Green Meetings

Meetings, conferences, expos, and exhibits offer excellent opportunities to make environmentally friendly choices that can have both a current positive impact and a future return.  The nature of such events produces a built-in, captive audience who can be invited to participate in environmentally friendly practices while on location and carry those lessons back home with them. Hosts can lead by example.  Events can serve as an educational outreach to the public above and beyond the subject matter at hand.

Green meetings are designed to limit the footprint of the event by employing practical and innovative measures to offset carbon emissions, water and energy use, pollution, and waste.  Green meetings also use eco-friendly and sustainable materials.

The value in green meetings can be seen in long-term cost-savings, brand alliance with a popular social movement, and the conservation and preservation of natural resources.  At the same time, there are other organizations, such as the Carbon Free Meeting Coalition (c02fmc) that are focused on reducing "unnecessary business travel" through the development, use, successful implementation and measurement of advanced technologies as a means of reducing companies' carbon footprints.
