Green Travel Trips

For the traveler, simple choices can also make a lasting impact on the planet.  Supporting local businesses, artisans, transportation companies, attractions, and accommodations that employ environmentally friendly measures is a solid first step.  Participating in environmentally-sensitive activities at destinations and minimizing waste in trash are others.

Packing lightly, turning off and unplugging lights and appliances when not in your accommodations (and at home), and opting to forego daily changing of linens and towels is an easy way to save energy, water, and other natural resources.  Equally so are participating in local recycling programs and sharing or reusing pamphlets, brochures, and maps.  Travelers can also choose to purchase carbon offsets, utilize public transportation, and/or engage in volunteer programs supporting the local culture or environment.
