0-0-0 Alamo Rent a Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental
Having been in business for more than half a century, environmental stewardship has been a long-term approach for Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental. Their environmental platform focuses on the following initiatives: (1) A Carbon-Offset Program; (2) Operating the world's largest fleet of fuel-efficient cars ; (3) Taking advantage of existing alternative technologies, such as FlexFuel and hybrid vehicles, and helping expand the availability and use of alternative fuels, such as E85; (4) Donating $25 million to one of the world's leading plant science centers to develop renewable, reliable fuels from plant sources; (5) Funding the planting of 50 million trees over the next 50 years with The National Arbor Day Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service; as well as other programs.

Avis strives to be a good corporate citizen by trying harder to manage the environmental aspects of its business, and to ensure the responsible use of natural resources. Beyond SmartWay® certified vehicles and an earth-friendly fleet, the company has established smart company policies for water, energy, noise, use of natural resources, landfill contribution and other areas in which we impact the environment. Environmental responsibility is one of Avis' top priorities as it help make the world a little greener.

The Avis Budget Group, Inc., parent company of Avis and Budget, has launched an initiative to create a formal environmental management system (EMS) for certain major U.S. locations. It is also working with to provide carbon offsets, climate change education and public outreach. About half the vehicles in both the Avis and Budget fleet have a fuel efficiency rating of 28 miles per gallon or better (highway). A full 100% of Avis' and Budget's economy, compact, intermediate and standard car classes have met stringent U.S. EPA guidelines and are U.S. EPA SmartWay Certified, as have 85% of Avis' full-size cars and 100% of Budget's full size cars. Both Avis and Budget now have has over 2,000 gas/electric hybrid vehicles each in their fleets and plan to add more as manufacturers make them available.  Both companies have fleets of "Flex fuel" cars that operate using E-85 ethanol fuel, available at gas stations primarily in the Midwestern U.S. Other initiatives include well-maintained fleets; new car wash systems that recycle and reuse at least 80% of wastewater; recycling of used motor oil, oil filters, parts and brake cleaner fluids at corporate maintenance facilities; and use of all diesel engine shuttle buses operating at airport locations.

The Hertz Green Collection offers nearly 35,000 cars in the Green Collection fleet.  These vehicles all have EPA Highway Fuel Efficiency rating of 28 Miles or more per gallon and are available at 50 major airport locations in the U.S.
